Island Yacht Charters is GREEN! To keep up with the growing importance of and need for sustainable energy alternatives, Island Yachts offers solar panels aboard all their Island Packet Yachts! Island Yachts owners Skip and Andrea King have taken a major step forward in the bareboat charter industry in the Caribbean as the only charter yacht fleet to offer this sustainable energy alternative to the vacationing sailor. Island Yachts recognizes the great responsibility they have to offer environmentally sound sailing vessels to match the pristine environment in which these vessels are operated in the US Virgin Islands.

Island Yachts panels are produced by Kyocera, one of the world’s largest vertically-integrated producers and suppliers of solar energy products. Kyocera panels are Florida Solar Energy Certified. FSEC is one of only two certification centers in the United States.

The benefits of solar energy aboard our yachts include less engine running time. This lends considerably to a reduction in engine wear and tear and a substantial reduction in diesel fuel usage. In turn this translates to prolonged engine longevity and a reduction in engine emissions which contributes to better air quality. The benefits of solar power are endless in the Caribbean Marine Industry. Island Yachts also offers vessels cleaned with non-toxic, mild cleansers and SEALAND biodegradable toilet paper.

Island Yachts offers information to our guests to encourage their participation in environmental sensitivity while aboard our vessels including web information about the Virgin Islands environment including anti-litter, proper anchoring & mooring procedures to protect our sensitive marine life and coral reefs as well as information about nature viewing opportunities of the wildlife of the Virgin Islands. Printed information is also provided upon arrival so that IYC guests can be well informed, environmentally conscious travelers to our shores!
